Again sorry this the comic is late. Comics are hard. I think it looks pretty good though. If you haven’t been reading Lemon Inc. for the past few months then you probably will not get today’s comic at all. During the storyline where Andy and Jeff go to the supermarket to get lemons they happened to buy the store out and proceed to “eliminate the competition“. While it wasn’t my main concern when writing those comics I was intentionally setting them up to thwart Gerald’s future attempts to attain lemonade.

I tried to make Barry look kinda like Jon Lovitz but I don’t think he actually ended up looking quite like him.

This cashier ain’t too bright…

You know what’s a pain to draw? Checkout counters. You know what’s an even bigger pain to ink? A tower of lemons topling over.

Man… Andy has been coming across as a huge duchebag recently. Eventually I would like to show the more positive aspects of his personality and focus on the flaws of the other characters. But based on the upcoming comics I have written that won’t happen any time soon.

What do you guys think of the hand lettering? I’m considering switching to digital lettering. Before I started the comic I had intended to do the lettering digitally. When I started it though I had heard some strong arguments for hand lettering. I like the idea of the lettering being unique. However, when comics like this have large blocks of dialogue then I find the hand lettering slows the whole process down.

Edit: I’ve decided to try switching to digital lettering. This comic had so much dialogue that I thought the hand lettering ended up looking sloppy and was a bit hard to read. I’ve re-lettered it with a font I made from my hand writing and I think it looks much better.

So this is the fortieth Lemon Inc. comic. I’m not sure if it turned out as dynamic as I had pictured it but I think it turned out pretty well.

Anyone going to the Wizard World Toronto Comic Con this weekend? I won’t be behind a booth there but my brother, Chris, will be. He’ll be helping out Shane Kirshenblatt and Kurt Lehner at their booth. If you’re going then stop by and say hi.

I put a LOT more detail into this one than I had intended to and because of that it took me longer to draw and ink than  usual. It also didn’t help that I had gotten off to a late start in the first place. As a result I did a pretty sloppy colouring job. I think I’ll probably redo it later.
