Last year I contributed a comic and a recipie to the Webcomics: What’s Cooking? cookbook. Now they only have 1000 cookbooks left and they’re trying to sell all of them by American Thanksgiving. Get it while you can! All of the proceeds will be donated to the National Food Banks to help feed families in need.

The cookbook is only $15 dollars but you can get it for 7.5% off when you use the code, Tim (case sensitive), when you check out. Click on the banner below to order a copy for yourself or a friend who likes comics or cooking.

Webcomics: What’s Cooking? is a cookbook and a comics anthology organized by Kurt Sasso of TGT Webcomics and Byron Wilkins of 1977 that features recipes alongside comics about cooking by over a dozen webcomic authors. Contributers include Brian Anderson of Dog Eat Doug, Sean McLean of Underwhelmed, and Paul Westover and Ben Carter of Woody After Hours. This would mark the first time that a Lemon Inc. comic has ever been published in print!

But wait! There’s more! I know what you’re thinking: what’s better than a book that is both a cookbook and a comics anthology, Tim? Not much. But in this case it’s a book that is both a cookbook and a comics anthology which donates all of its proceeds to Food Banks of Canada and Feeding America.

Pre-orders for the book have started today. So what are you waiting for? Go pre-order this cookbook comics anthology and help out the food banks at the same time.

I recently received Amulet Book 2: The Stonekeeper’s Curse, (the second book in a fantasy graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi), and Flight Volume 6, (the sixth in a series of anthologies edited by Kibuishi), in the mail. These are both fantastic, amazingly illustrated books.

© Kazu Kibuishi

I remember when I read the first Amulet book I was blown away by the art but wasn’t really sure what to think of the writing. The second book delves deeper into the story and shows that Kibuishi has a truly epic story planned. This book definitely tops the first one both in terms of the art and the writing.

© JP Ahonen

As always Flight 6 contains a collection of beautiful, imaginative stories. I’ve never really been able to dicern an overall theme for the stories besides the great amount of imagination found in each one. This isn’t a bad thing but it does mean that there might be the occasional story that, while well done, may not cater to your tastes. Of course this is true of any anythology. My personal favorite story in this volume was “The Excitingly Mundane Life of Kenneth Shuri” by JP Ahonen which is a very clever and funny story about a ninja.

On a side note: I had originally intended to blog every week. I figured that once I got the website running I would blog all the time. This is not true. I have been trying to be as consistent as possible in terms of updating the comic which is, obviously, more important than the blog but I realised that in the process I neglected the blog thoughout August. From now on I intend to try to blog more often but I can’t promise that this will happen. If it gets in the way of me updating the comic itself then I will have to put it off.
