I already posted the illustration I did for the cover of Lemon Inc. Volume 1 but here is the final cover with the logo and volume number in place. Oh yeah, and apparently the first volume is going to be called “Freshly Sqeezed”.

Hey guys! The book isn’t finished yet but here’s the cover illustration without any of the logos or titles. I’d been procrastinating doing it for ages because I wanted it to be perfect and stuff. I’m actually really happy with how it turned out. The edges of this image will probably be cropped off to fit the dimensions of the book but I intend to have a print of the full image available.

I really wanted to go all out on the colouring so I decided to try out some new methods. I got a lot of the methods and ideas I incorporated into it from these really great colouring tutorials by Tony Cliff who does the awesome webcomic, Delilah Dirk, and has had his work in the Flight anthologies. My colouring still doesn’t look as good as his but I think his methods will have a significant impact on the way I colour in the future.

So this is the last Lemon Inc. comic of part one. This will be where the first book ends. This was one of the first Lemon Inc. comics I ever wrote. I wanted to end part one by focusing on Andy’s personality flaws and I also wanted to end on a joke so when I was trying to come up with an ending I found this comic burried in a Word document and I thought it worked perfectly. Now that part one is finished I’m going to take a short break from the comic. There are multiple reasons for this. In short, I want to take some time to put together the first book and to plan out the next storyline. I also want to look into putting together a portfolio for college. This comic is soooo late. I think it’s pretty obvious why though. If you didn’t know, the title is taken from this.

I wanted to tie up all of the storylines that I had going on with this comic. I think it worked out really well seeing as I ‘d basically been making this stuff up as I went along. It’s cool that I got to bring Jeff’s bird suit back. I figure that he just wears his bird suit on all of his secret missions. Originally this was going to be the last comic of part one but I decieded that I needed one more for various reasons so now next week’s comic is the last comic of part one.

This one wasn’t actually going to be double size at first but I realized I needed more space to fit everything in. I’m pretty sure that there wasn’t even that much lemonade in the cup in the first place so I’m not sure what else he spit up. I think it’s funny that Andy is one of those people who says “OMG” in real life. There are only two more comics left before the end of part one and they will probably both be double size as well.

It’s a bit of a coincidence that the climax of this arc happened to line up with the 100th comic. If you’re sitting at your computer thinking “I don’t get it” then that’s because this particular comic wasn’t intended to be funny. I know this is a comedy but in certain instances I feel that it’s necessary to introduce a bit of drama. Don’t worry though, next week’s comic will be funny. This is the first dialogue-less comic that I’ve done. I just felt that it worked better without any words. I’m a fairly wordy writer so it was nice not to have to worry about fitting all the dialogue in for once and it was an interesting challenge to focus solely on the character acting.

So those abominations are Gerald’s children. This is probably the most disturbing thing that I have ever drawn. This comic turned out really well and it’s even more or less on time which is weird since it was a lot harder to draw than the last two comics. Next week’s comic is the big one-hundred. It’s probably going to be a double sized and it’s going to be different from any of the comics I’ve done before.

Today is my birthday! I am eighteen! I guess that is kind of a big deal? This one wasn’t going to be late but I didn’t get around to inking it as soon as I thought I would and that set everything back. I haven’t actually done a night scene since 2009. I think this one looks better than that one did somehow. Fans of Gerald are definitely going to want to see next week’s comic.
