I already posted the illustration I did for the cover of Lemon Inc. Volume 1 but here is the final cover with the logo and volume number in place. Oh yeah, and apparently the first volume is going to be called “Freshly Sqeezed”.

Hey guys! The book isn’t finished yet but here’s the cover illustration without any of the logos or titles. I’d been procrastinating doing it for ages because I wanted it to be perfect and stuff. I’m actually really happy with how it turned out. The edges of this image will probably be cropped off to fit the dimensions of the book but I intend to have a print of the full image available.

I really wanted to go all out on the colouring so I decided to try out some new methods. I got a lot of the methods and ideas I incorporated into it from these really great colouring tutorials by Tony Cliff who does the awesome webcomic, Delilah Dirk, and has had his work in the Flight anthologies. My colouring still doesn’t look as good as his but I think his methods will have a significant impact on the way I colour in the future.

This comic is soooo late. I think it’s pretty obvious why though. If you didn’t know, the title is taken from this.

I wanted to tie up all of the storylines that I had going on with this comic. I think it worked out really well seeing as I ‘d basically been making this stuff up as I went along. It’s cool that I got to bring Jeff’s bird suit back. I figure that he just wears his bird suit on all of his secret missions. Originally this was going to be the last comic of part one but I decieded that I needed one more for various reasons so now next week’s comic is the last comic of part one.

It’s a bit of a coincidence that the climax of this arc happened to line up with the 100th comic. If you’re sitting at your computer thinking “I don’t get it” then that’s because this particular comic wasn’t intended to be funny. I know this is a comedy but in certain instances I feel that it’s necessary to introduce a bit of drama. Don’t worry though, next week’s comic will be funny. This is the first dialogue-less comic that I’ve done. I just felt that it worked better without any words. I’m a fairly wordy writer so it was nice not to have to worry about fitting all the dialogue in for once and it was an interesting challenge to focus solely on the character acting.

Hey guys, Sorry this one was so late. I’ve been late a lot lately I guess. Next week’s comic is going to be awesome if I can figure out how to do it so you’re going to want to see that. There’s only five more comics left until I reach one hundred and the next five are going to be some of the best, most fun, comics that I’ve ever made.

One positive aspect of updating late is that Sean McLean will shame me. This time he did it in comic form. Thanks Sean!

This is the last Lemon Inc. comic of the year. It’s pretty late. I guess I got a bit lazy over the holidays. I’m going to try to stop updating late in the new year. See you then!

Sorry this comic is over a day late. It was a particularly challenging comic. I’m intoducing to new characters in this comic (Becky and Rachel), I had to research Lucy Burns, and as you can see there was a lot of dialogue to fit in. I wanted this comic to parallel the first Lemon Inc. comic where I showed how Andy didn’t relate to the idea of playing in the sandbox the same way Jeff did. Similarly, Rachel can’t relate to the idea of playing with dolls in the same way that Becky does.

This is a major turning point to Alison’s character. I’m not sure if Andy is genuinely upset about how he treated her or if he’s just really upset about the fact that she drew his hair wrong. I’m pretty sure it’s just the hair but you can decide for yourself.
