Hey so I’m on DeviantART now. If you don’t know what DeviantART is, it’s basically just an online community for artists to share their work with their peers.
From my DA page:
I’ve been on Deviantart for a couple of months now but haven’t gotten around to posting anything or favouriting anything until now. I was surprised how quickly I received a comment on one of my paintings. I think this will be a great artistic community. I’m a little surpised it’s taken me this long to get on Deviantart. I always thought that I wouldn’t have anything much to post but I dug up some old paintings and stuff and realized that I have more stuff than I thought I did. One of my goals this year is to start doing more personal art pieces and to develop a portfolio so I intend to start posting here a lot.
Some of the art I’ll post on DevinantART will probably be fairly different from Lemon inc. This is my featured “deviation” right now.
I painted these for you because I want to scare the crap out of you. I’ve actually been trying to start doing digital painting again. I was intending to do some concept paintings for a fantasy story but ended up painting this…
I know it’s totally creepy right? I did another one of him in a different outfit…
I think I have to paint a creepy Jeff painting now. And a creepy Tommy painting.
Happy New Year Everyone! I’m excited to improve and expand Lemon Inc. in the coming year. Here are my New Year’s resolutions:
Produce two comics every week. I’m not necessarily going to post them though. I just want to get to a level where I’m comfortable making two a week before I commit to posting them.
Update this blog more often. I had intended to update it every week but I’ve not made it much of a priority.
Develop a portfolio. If I want to be a professional artist then I’ll need one. I intend to upload my portfolio pieces to my blog and my Deviantart page.
Redesign this website. I like how this site looks but I want to get more content “above the scroll”, add spaces for ads, and add some new features.
Grow my readership. Succeeding with #1 and #2 should help this goal. I also intend to start trying to promote my comic more with social networks and such. Specifically social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon and Reddit.
Begin to monetize the comic. I’m going to start by setting up ad space in a couple of weeks. I also intend to look into selling prints and original art. I realize that it’s hard to monetize a comic that only updates once or even twice a week so this one will be made easier by the success of #1, #2, #4, and #5.
Be active in the online community. Comment on people’s comics more often, Ustream, try not to disappear on Twitter, etc.
Exercise weekly… But that’s not related to the comic or my other art projects.
I realize this list is a bit long but all of the things on this list seem important to me. The last few are mostly just goals… I might end up condensing this list a bit so I can be a bit more focused. The first three are probably the most important to me.
Goodbye 2009, you have been cool. 2008 was a pretty lame year. I had such high hopes for it too. He really betrayed me 2008 did. While you have not been the coolest, 2009, some really cool things have happened in you. One of the coolest being that I got to start this webcomic!
I thought I’d go back into my archives this year and pick out my personal favourite comics from this year. Here are my seven favourite comics from this year in no particular order.
You can say it with style this holiday season with these three awesome printable Lemon Inc. holiday greeting cards! Select the card that coincides with the holiday you celebrate, (choose from Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa) or just pick the one with your favorite character on it (the recipient may be confused by this but it will simply add to the surprise). Once you have selected a card click on it, print out the card, and fold along the dotted lines. Proceed to distribute to family and friends.
Inside Card: "Have a hip and swanky Christmas!"
Inside Card: "Hoping your Hanukkah is as sweet as ice cream!"
On Cover: "Wait... What's Kwanzaa?" Inside Card: "Well, um... whatever it is I hope you enjoy it.
Lemon Inc. is a weekly webcomic by Tim Lai about a bunch of kids that run a lemonade stand like it's an office. Updates on Tuesdays. For more information visit the About page, or meet the cast.
