Hey, guys. New comics are coming soon, I swear. In the mean time I thought I’d show you this awesome piece of fanart I just got from Shane Kirshenblatt. Shane is a freelance illustrator, teaching artist, and the author of the graphic  novel series Dorothy Gale: Journey to Oz. Shane was my art teacher from the time I was twelve to fifteen. He taught me a lot of what I knew about drawing before I started Lemon Inc. and has continued to support my endeavors. One of the ways that he has done so is by drawing me this pinup. I really appreciate the attention to detail that he put into it. If you look closely you’ll notice that even the sun, the clouds, and the hills, are shaped like lemons.

I already posted the illustration I did for the cover of Lemon Inc. Volume 1 but here is the final cover with the logo and volume number in place. Oh yeah, and apparently the first volume is going to be called “Freshly Sqeezed”.

    TCAF 2011

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival was last week but I’m only getting around to doing my post con blog post now. If you aren’t familiar with TCAF and why it’s the most awesome comics show I’ve ever been to you can find my thoughts on last year’s show here.

    The Toronto Reference Library

After brunch at Cora’s (an awesome Canadian breakfast restaurant) we headed down to the Toronto Reference Library where the show has been held since 2009 when I first attended it. Every year TCAF just gets bigger and better than the previous year. There were over three hundred cartoonists in attendance this year. There were so many awesome cartoonists and panels at this show that I didn’t have time to see everything that I might have liked to. The attendance was bigger than ever before too. It’s been crowded the previous two years I’ve gone but nothing like it was this year.

    Fan Art For Underwhelmed

    April 24th, 2011 | by Tim Lai

As you guys are probably aware, Sean McLean of Underwhelmed keeps drawing my characters. I had not drawn any of his yet so I decided to rectify that. I was going for a Japanese monster movie theme. I figure that when Doyle gets hungry he basically becomes like a giant Godzilla-like monster.
