Bring It 2010!

Happy New Year Everyone! :w00t: I’m excited to improve and expand Lemon Inc. in the coming year. Here are my New Year’s resolutions:

  1. Produce two comics every week. I’m not necessarily going to post them though. I just want to get to a level where I’m comfortable making two a week before I commit to posting them.
  2. Update this blog more often. I had intended to update it every week but I’ve not made it much of a priority.
  3. Develop a portfolio. If I want to be a professional artist then I’ll need one. I intend to upload my portfolio pieces to my blog and my Deviantart page.
  4. Redesign this website. I like how this site looks but I want to get more content “above the scroll”, add spaces for ads, and add some new features.
  5. Grow my readership. Succeeding with #1 and #2 should help this goal. I also intend to start trying to promote my comic more with social networks and such. Specifically social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon and Reddit.
  6. Begin to monetize the comic. I’m going to start by setting up ad space in a couple of weeks. I also intend to look into selling prints and original art. I realize that it’s hard to monetize a comic that only updates once or even twice a week so this one will be made easier by the success of #1, #2, #4, and #5.
  7. Be active in the online community. Comment on people’s comics more often, Ustream, try not to disappear on Twitter, etc.
  8. Exercise weekly… But that’s not related to the comic or my other art projects.

I realize this list is a bit long but all of the things on this list seem important to me. The last few are mostly just goals… I might end up condensing this list a bit so I can be a bit more focused. The first three are probably the most important to me.

The Best Of Lemon Inc. 2009

December 30th, 2009 | by Tim Lai

Goodbye 2009, you have been cool. 2008 was a pretty lame year. I had such high hopes for it too. He really betrayed me 2008 did. While you have not been the coolest, 2009, some really cool things have happened in you. One of the coolest being that I got to start this webcomic!

I thought I’d go back into my archives this year and pick out my personal favourite comics from this year. Here are my seven favourite comics from this year in no particular order.

  • Not Shrewd at All! – I think this one was pretty funny.
  • Hip and Swanky – This is a good portrayal of Andy’s personality.
  • A Bakesale to Remember – I liked the dark humor and shock value of this one.
  • He Really Does – He just hates him so much. I think this one was actually stumbled by a couple of people. I guess the punchline was pretty good.
  • Feeling The Heat – I’m just really happy with how the art turned out in this one and the gag wasn’t too bad either.
  • Bedtime Business Buddies – This one was just so creepy. This was also the first nighttime scene I did.
  • Dial “J” for Jelly – I decided to make this comic on a whim and it turned out to be pretty funny. The humor in this one was also pretty dark.

Do you agree with me? What were your favourite comics?

    Frankenstein Jeff Pumpkin

Hopefully you aren’t tired of Halloween yet because I thought I’d share the pumpkin that i carved of Jeff. Well… The concept was actually “Frankenstein Jeff”, or Jeff dressed as Frankedstein for Halloween. I intended to post this closer to Halloween but this week’s comic was already late enough and I didn’t get a chance. Anyway here it is!

Last year I carved an Andy pumpkin. You may have seen this on my Flickr page before but I thought I’d post it here in case you missed it. Although I hadn’t even launched the comic at the time I was already planning to so I decided to carve him anyway.

Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!
