Man… Andy has been coming across as a huge duchebag recently. Eventually I would like to show the more positive aspects of his personality and focus on the flaws of the other characters. But based on the upcoming comics I have written that won’t happen any time soon.
What do you guys think of the hand lettering? I’m considering switching to digital lettering. Before I started the comic I had intended to do the lettering digitally. When I started it though I had heard some strong arguments for hand lettering. I like the idea of the lettering being unique. However, when comics like this have large blocks of dialogue then I find the hand lettering slows the whole process down.

Edit: I’ve decided to try switching to digital lettering. This comic had so much dialogue that I thought the hand lettering ended up looking sloppy and was a bit hard to read. I’ve re-lettered it with a font I made from my hand writing and I think it looks much better.

Hey Tim!
Yeah, Andy is displaying quite a bit of D-baggery! I think the icing on the cake would have been to give the cashier a “Buy 10 lemonades and get 10% off the next glass!” card. Regarding lettering…go digital. There are plenty of natural hand-drawn looking fonts out there and there are few things more frustrating than discovering spelling mistakes that mean messy paint-overs, clumpy corrections (from trying to letter over the area you’ve just painted over) or worse, discovering that the whole page just doesn’t look good and needing to shrink or blow up all the lettering. Adobe Illustrator is my savior for this, and I can usually get through an entire book of digitally lettering (including SFX) within a couple of days.
Love the strip and please email me if you have more lettering questions!

Hi Shane! The coupon would be the last straw.
Thanks for the lettering advice. I’m definitely switching to digital lettering. I’m glad that I gave hand lettering a try as it got me to think of the lettering as a part of the art rather than something separate but I think the digital lettering will be much easier on me and will look more professional. I’m glad that you like the strip and I’m looking forward to the Creator’s Marketplace!
‘Now Ring My Lemons Through’ LMAO! That last line is priceless
Thanks Eliza! I think it’s a deceptively important line. For some reason the comic wouldn’t be as funny without it.
That clerk has skills. He might be needed to run the cash register at Lemonade Inc.
You’re on to me Bearman!
Let’s just say that the cashier *might* have a returning role.
