Bring It 2010!

Happy New Year Everyone! :w00t: I’m excited to improve and expand Lemon Inc. in the coming year. Here are my New Year’s resolutions:

  1. Produce two comics every week. I’m not necessarily going to post them though. I just want to get to a level where I’m comfortable making two a week before I commit to posting them.
  2. Update this blog more often. I had intended to update it every week but I’ve not made it much of a priority.
  3. Develop a portfolio. If I want to be a professional artist then I’ll need one. I intend to upload my portfolio pieces to my blog and my Deviantart page.
  4. Redesign this website. I like how this site looks but I want to get more content “above the scroll”, add spaces for ads, and add some new features.
  5. Grow my readership. Succeeding with #1 and #2 should help this goal. I also intend to start trying to promote my comic more with social networks and such. Specifically social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon and Reddit.
  6. Begin to monetize the comic. I’m going to start by setting up ad space in a couple of weeks. I also intend to look into selling prints and original art. I realize that it’s hard to monetize a comic that only updates once or even twice a week so this one will be made easier by the success of #1, #2, #4, and #5.
  7. Be active in the online community. Comment on people’s comics more often, Ustream, try not to disappear on Twitter, etc.
  8. Exercise weekly… But that’s not related to the comic or my other art projects.

I realize this list is a bit long but all of the things on this list seem important to me. The last few are mostly just goals… I might end up condensing this list a bit so I can be a bit more focused. The first three are probably the most important to me.

Creepy Andy Paintings

I painted these for you because I want to scare the crap out of you. I’ve actually been trying to start doing digital painting again. I was intending to do some concept paintings for a fantasy story but ended up painting this…

I think I have to paint a creepy Jeff painting now. And a creepy Tommy painting.

I’m on DeviantART Now

Hey so I’m on DeviantART now. If you don’t know what DeviantART is, it’s basically just an online community for artists to share their work with their peers.
From my DA page:

I’ve been on Deviantart for a couple of months now but haven’t gotten around to posting anything or favouriting anything until now. I was surprised how quickly I received a comment on one of my paintings. I think this will be a great artistic community. I’m a little surpised it’s taken me this long to get on Deviantart. I always thought that I wouldn’t have anything much to post but I dug up some old paintings and stuff and realized that I have more stuff than I thought I did. One of my goals this year is to start doing more personal art pieces and to develop a portfolio so I intend to start posting here a lot.

Some of the art I’ll post on DevinantART will probably be fairly different from Lemon inc. This is my featured “deviation” right now.

Andy Drawn by My Sister

My sister, Jen, (if you are on twitter you might be familiar with her as @ilovemom) drew this picture of Andy doing his signature “wink and point” gesture. I would call this my first piece of “fan art” but it’s drawn by my sister so I guess it doesn’t count.

New Painting: The Watch Maker

I’m attempting to get back into digital painting so I painted this. It’s from a steampunk fantasy story I’m conceptualizing with my brother. He is but a simple watch maker who owns a watch repair shop called the “second hand shop.” But is he hiding a dark secret?

Ads and Chibis

Lemon Inc. reader, Josie, included Alison in a collection of chibis she drew. Alison is number 38. She’s right beside Rocky, from Lackadiasy (one of my all-time favourite comics!). She is small but the resemblance is definitely there. Josie is 12 and she has her own webcomic here. I wish I had had the knowledge and initiative to make a webcomic when I was 12.

On a side note, I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve recently added some advertisements to the site. It was always my intention to eventually put ads on the site. I hope they don’t feel too intrusive. I feel that they’re pretty inoffensive. If you’re interested in advertising on Lemon Inc. then you can bid on skyscraper ads here, leaderboard ads here, and button ads here.

First Ever Lemon Inc. Merch!

It’s finally here! What is? The first Lemon Inc. T-shirt which also happens to be the first piece of Lemon Inc. merchandise ever! :w00t: I know it’s just the logo but I’m trying to start simple and work my way up to more interesting designs.

White Lemon Inc. T-ShirtYou can also get the logo on a hat!

…And a mug!

This marks the debut of the new Lemon Inc. store! I plan to start making more original T-shirt designs to put in the store. Soon you should also be able to buy prints of any comic in the archives from the store. I could also offer mugs, mousepads, etc. Tell me if there’s anything would actually be interested in buying and I’ll make it.
