This was probably the hardest I’ve ever worked to make something look poorly drawn.
It’s weird to try to remember how you drew when you were a kid. I used the obvious traits of making the drawing two dimensional and having most people stand on the horizon but I also remembered that as a kid me and my brother and sister had an odd habit of labelling everything in a drawing in case, y’know… someone couldn’t tell what something was. Although, if that were the case then the labels wouldn’t be much help as they were often messy and littered with spelling mistakes. Although this is the hardest I’ve worked to make a poorly drawn drawing I still didn’t have to work too hard on this one. It was a lot of fun to make.

Whoa,
I just noticed the shadow of Andy’s head hovering over the blueprints. Awesomeness.
It’s subtle isn’t it?
LOL this reminds me of some things you’d see in Family Circus. I think the flying unicorn is the best part.
Thanks! The unicorn is my favourite part.
I love the crayon effect, and the shadow of his head on the blueprints is an excellent touch.
Thanks! I wanted to crayon to look natural so I used the crayon brush in Corel Painter. I added the shadow over it at the last minute.
This is hilarious
‘Keeosk’ lol!
Thanks for reading Eliza! As you noticed I tried to misspell some things intentionally to make it seem more child like.
I like how Andy went out of his way to label everything. As if it were not readily apparent that the enormous yellow ball in the sky was the sun.
Well you never know… it could be some sort of floating shiny alien.
I mean it *is* wearing sunglasses;
why would it wear glasses to shield itself from it’s own light? The irony! Thanks for reading Thomas!
Did the blue pencils work?
Yep. There wasn’t much cleanup to do. I did have to do a bit of cleanup here and there but it might have just been eraser shavings or smeared ink. Regardless it requires less cleanup than regular pencils do.
Hi Tim. A really great and fun comic!
I’m glad to hear that the blue pencils worked. Was this your first time using them? Where can I get a flying unicorn?
Jane
Thanks Jane.
This was my first time using them. As for the flying unicorn I’m not sure as to where they are available at the moment.
