I recently received Amulet Book 2: The Stonekeeper’s Curse, (the second book in a fantasy graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi), and Flight Volume 6, (the sixth in a series of anthologies edited by Kibuishi), in the mail. These are both fantastic, amazingly illustrated books. :w00t:

I remember when I read the first Amulet book I was blown away by the art but wasn’t really sure what to think of the writing. The second book delves deeper into the story and shows that Kibuishi has a truly epic story planned. This book definitely tops the first one both in terms of the art and the writing.

As always Flight 6 contains a collection of beautiful, imaginative stories. I’ve never really been able to dicern an overall theme for the stories besides the great amount of imagination found in each one. This isn’t a bad thing but it does mean that there might be the occasional story that, while well done, may not cater to your tastes. Of course this is true of any anythology. My personal favorite story in this volume was “The Excitingly Mundane Life of Kenneth Shuri” by JP Ahonen which is a very clever and funny story about a ninja. :ninja:

On a side note: I had originally intended to blog every week. I figured that once I got the website running I would blog all the time. This is not true. I have been trying to be as consistent as possible in terms of updating the comic which is, obviously, more important than the blog but I realised that in the process I neglected the blog thoughout August. From now on I intend to try to blog more often but I can’t promise that this will happen. If it gets in the way of me updating the comic itself then I will have to put it off.
